On 08 February 2008 the first day of Chinese New Year of the Rat - Earthworks hosted a Lecture on Ceramics and Craft in China. The Lecture was delivered by Gus Mableson and Elaine Riordan. Gus Mableson is the Director of the Craft Council of Ireland's Pottery Design and Skills Course and Elaine Riordan is a local artist and Lecturer in Ceramics at Limerick College of Art. Gus and Elaine had recently been on a three week trip to China which focused on ceramics. They also had many interesting images of work and techniques to describe, and amazing insights on 'modern' life in China and preparations for the Olympics. The Lecture was attended by many artists and ceramists and craft enthusiasts who sipped green tea served with real Chinese fortune cookies!
